Lawrence W. Fischer

Lawrence William Fischer, 83, of Rocky Hill passed away on September 21, 2021. Born in Hartford to the late Henry and Edna (Harrison) Fischer. Larry was a devoted husband to Jacqueline (Mocarsky) Fischer for 43 years. As an adolescent, Larry delivered the local newspapers, caddied at the Wethersfield Country Club, and set pins at the bowling alley in Hartford. Larry also had fond memories of his working days during the 1950's as first mate on the Rocky Hill/Glastonbury ferry and at Gilbert's Farm. Before retirement, Larry was employed by the Town of Wethersfield Highway Department for 34 years. He also was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wethersfield and a member of the Rocky Hill Lions Club. Larry enjoyed watching the UCONN girls' basketball, the NY Giants and Yankees games and listening to audiobooks. Besides his wife, Larry is survived by his daughters Ann (Jeff) Landry and Laurie (Ray) Martin, his stepchildren Catherine (Kurt) Evans, William W. Fischer, Jr. and Deborah (John) Viola, as well as his 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his brothers Eugene (Ruth) Fischer and William Fischer, Sr.; a sister-in-law, Maryann Fischer; and brother-in-law Robert Shaw. He was predeceased by his brothers Harold Harrison and Richard Fischer; his sister, Sandra Shaw; his daughter, Christine Fischer and his granddaughter, Monica Tobin. Family and friends are invited to call at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill on Friday (October 1, 2021) from 6 to 8 PM. A graveside service will be held on Saturday (October 2, 2021) 11AM in the Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rocky Hill Lions Club, P.O.
