Leonard H. Nicholas Sr.

1923 - 2021

Leonard H Nicholas SR passed away on October 13, 2021 at the age of 98. Leonard was born on April 26, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York to Freda (Nuss) and John Nicholas. He was raised in Brooklyn and enlisted in the Army during WWII and by the end of his enlistment attained the rank of Sargent. After he was discharged from the Army, he married Ellen Mooney on December 29th, 1946. Leonard and Ellen had two children; Leonard H Nicholas JR and David J Nicholas. Up to 1970, Leonard worked in New York City and lived in Levittown (Long Island), New York. After 1970, Leonard and Ellen permanently moved to Haddam Neck (Haddam) CT were they worked and lived up to their respective passing's. For the next 30 years, Leonard worked as a general contractor, volunteered at the Haddam Neck Fair and the Haddam Neck Fire Department and oversaw the voting polls. Leonard and Ellen spent many years either camping, trailering or RVing throughout the United States and Alaska, taking their last RV trip in 2019. In addition, Leonard and Ellen was enthusiastic western line dancers. From May of 2020 to his passing, Leonard resided at the Chestelm Healthcare Facility located in Moodus, CT . Preceding Leonard's passing, his wife Ellen passed in 2019 and Leonard JR passed in 2021. Leonard leaves behind one son David J Nicholas and his wife Elizabeth Nicholas who live in Idaho and two grandchildren; Lenny and Joyce Nicholas and three great grandchildren; Riley, Conner and Kyle.
