Lisa Zohlman Obituary

Lisa Susan Zohlman, 67, of Farmington, CT, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2023, with family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife, for 39 years of Fred Zohlman. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Millicent (Siegel) Morris. Lisa graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn and attended Brooklyn College. Before starting her career, she moved to England for over a year to travel across Europe and reconnect with her father's (Harold) family. When she returned, she worked at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), OppenheimerFunds, and as Executive Assistant at Dean Witter at the World Trade Center in New York before moving to Connecticut. She then worked for 24 years at Farmington High School as an aide. Lisa and Fred were married in 1984 at Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford, with the late Rabbi Harold Silver officiating. She loved watching and going to the movies, vacationing in Maine with her family, loved gardening, antiquing, adopting rescue dogs, and playing Gin Rummy with her kids. Lisa was known for wearing Ralph Lauren polo hats from her extensive collection. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and dear friend. Besides her husband, Fred, she is survived by her two children: Corey Zohlman and his husband, Dr. Alex Ocampo of Boston, and Michelle Zohlman-Choplick and her husband, Brian of Philadelphia. A graveside funeral service, with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating, will be held on Tuesday, July 11, at 1:00 PM at the Beth Torah Cemetery, Wethersfield, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, top of the Jordan Lane extension. The family will observe a private period of mourning. The family expresses a heartfelt appreciation to the Smilow Cancer Center at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Apple Rehab in Plainville, and the Care Demention Hospice staff in Danvers, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. May her memory be a source of strength and a blessing. On my first day of work at FHS in 2007 I accidentally entered through the student entrance. Lisa found me amid the influx of students and shepherded me to the main office. By the time we got there, my first day jitters disappeared.

She was the kindest person and made a difference to so many students and faculty over the years.

She left her mark on so many people and will be always remembered for her kindness

Lisa greeted me on my first day at FHS IN 2007 when I entered through the student entrance by mistake. She immediately took me under her wing and by the time we got to the main office all my first-day jitters were gone. She remained a positive, loving mother figure to me and many students as well. Her legacy of kindness will continue on!

Sending my senscer condolences to Fred for the loss of his beloved wife and to Corey and Michelle for the loss of their wonderfully loving and caring mother. I was so very lucky to have met Lisa, who took me under her wings, back in 2011 when I was hired to work as a Monitor at FHS. Lisa had such a kind and generous heart and she and I shared a love for animals. During our lunch together we would search the shelter and rescue websites and look at as many dogs as we could fit into our break. One day while searching we found her furry soul mate and knew she had to have him. She was so in love with her Fletcher. Lisa also had a deep love for her family and friends and would do anything for them without question. Lisa will truly be missed by so many.
