Lynda had so many accomplishments in her lifetime; She was an incredible creative and knowledgeable person. Lynda could have done anything she decided to do!

She was a painter, an english teacher, a designer, a Newspaper editor, a childcare provider, an avid gardener but most of all to me she was my sister.

When I was in kindergarten, Lynda was in middle school, when I was in middle school Lynda was in college. I always looked up to my big sister and learned about life through her. Lynda’s big joke was that she broke the ice for my sister Susan and I and we had no idea how lucky we were. She was probably right. Lynda was a risk taker and never seconded guessed her choices. She loved life with such enthusiasm and always wanted to learn new things. We would even sit with the dictionary and look up new words before bedtime. Lynda would invent these games and Susan and I would always follow along. We were so lucky to have a big sister that would want to be with us.

My fondest memories with Lynda would be at Block Island while fishing off the beach, sliding down the clay bluffs and having to crawl all the way back up (this was before the stairs of course) or to look for heart shape rocks on the waters edge. Lynda was only 8 months old on her first trip. We went there every year. It was such a special place for our entire family. Her favorite time was in early September when the island was very quiet. She would often paint the scenery of the bluffs and the Southeast Lighthouse.

Thank you Lynda for all the memories.

I want to close with a quote I find that is fitting for Lynda since she loved the author Rachel Carson and specifically the book written in 1965 The Sense of Wonder,

“It is a wholesome and necessary thing for us to turn again to the earth and in the contemplation of her beauties to know the sense of wonder and humility.” - Rachel Carson
