Mabel Dodge Obituary

Mabel (James) Dodge, 97, of Glastonbury, CT, husband to the late William "Bill" Dodge, passed away on January 28, 2023. She was born on December 5, 1925 to the late Mabel and Richard James. Mabel is survived by her daughter Kimberly Williams, her husband Richard Williams and his daughter Lyndsey Williams, along with her special grand-dogs Keira and Bridget. Mabel was also predeceased by her twin sister Elizabeth James and four brothers: Richard, William, John and Robert James.

Mabel was always commenting she was the younger twin to her sister Liz. She lived in the same house on Newington Road in Elmwood for almost 75 of her 97 years, moving when she met and married Bill Dodge in 1956 and returning to live with her sister, Liz and brother, Bob after Bill's passing and Kim went to college in 1976. She was the last of her generation of the James family, fondly recalling memories of loud laughter, clinking highball glasses and much merriment of holiday and family get togethers past. Mabel enjoyed practical jokes on us and would spend hours looking for the right humorous birthday and Christmas cards. She was a staple in our lives, always available to help or tell us the "right" way to do things. Mom you will be deeply missed and no I still won't be eating my vegetables!
