I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Bolden in St. Francis Hospital a few weeks ago. He was my Dad's roomate in room 7123. His obituary appeared in the paper the same day my Dad's did. My Dad had known Mr. Bolden for thirty years when he worked on Albany Ave in Hartford, such a small world!
Your gracious family invited my father to join in your private prayer service you held in their room, my family was deeply touched.
From what my Dad told me, and from what I have read here, your Matt had a wonderful, fulfilling, long life.
My family's thoughts and prayers are with you all

Please accept my deepest sympathy on Matts passing. As a young officer I remember walking a beat with Willie and then as a young Detective being broke in by Matt on the narcotics Squad at HPD and later working with Warren in the Detective Bureau.Warrens son joined the Bloomfield Police Dept. The Bolden family has had a great history in policing through three generations and Matt above all has left a legacy of public service that is unmatched. He will always be remembered as the role model for many of us who came after him.

To Warren, Mother Bolden and the entire Bolden Family
Growing up all my life I heard that fruit don't fall to far from the tree.
I am a 24 year Hartford Police Officer and although I never worked with or for Mr. Bolden I recognize his great contibution to this community and the Hartford Police Department.
If it had not been for him and a few others like him I truly believe I would not be where I am today a Detective with the Hartford Police Department.
Although I did not have the pleasure of serving with Mr. Bolden I had the pleasure of serving with his son Warren who took me under his wing like Mr. Bolden did so many other officers during his tenure with the police department.
It is with the untmost humility I send mine and my family's heartfelt condolensces to you all. May God continue to watch over you during your time of bereavement.
Much love, Keith and the entire Knight Family.

In 1967 I was promoted to detective and assigned to work with Matt. It was anexperience I will never forget. Matt was a fountain of knowledge and I learned a great deal from him. I feel my later success as a narcotics officer was due to Matt.He was a great man that will be sorely missed.

We are so saddened by the loss of Mr. Bolden. We loved him just as if he was our father. I remember so many times when we would see him and I would kiss him, and then Al would kiss him. He would have a look on his face as though saying "why is this man kissing me". Over the years he got used to it and would hug Al back. You all are blessed to have had him for so long. I wish that We could be there with you at this time. We are there in our hearts. We love you all, our "other family"

To Sis. Annie M. Bolden and Family,
I was sorry to hear of the passing of Bro. Bolden. He was a good man, lived a wonderful life with you and I was always happy to be in his company. You were my mentor and the two of you were my guides in the Conn. Masonic Family. And, if it were not for you, you know I would not still be an Eastern Star. Thirty-seven (37) years and still growing. You and your family have my Deepest Sympathy. Remember the "Good Times" because he will always be with YOU. God Bless You and Keep You...Love You,
