Marcus D. Anderson Sr.

Marcus D. Anderson, Sr., 50, of Los Angeles, formerly of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Marcus was born and raised in Hartford to Horace Lloyd Medley Sr. of Jamaica and Yvonne Anderson-Grady of Bloomfield, and served his country proudly with the US Navy. Besides his parents, Marcus leaves to cherish his memory his son Marcus Anderson, Jr., his daughter Nia Shanice Young and the love of his life Cindy Speed. Grandchildren Sharnay, Lamar, Jariyah and Aden Young. Brothers Melvin Anderson Jr, Rory Anderson, Troy Anderson, Courtney Anderson and Paul Brightley. Also, brothers Horace Lloyd Medley Jr., Oswell Medley and Vernon Watson, III. Sisters, Lillian Noisy, Beverley McClendon, Hyacinth Ephriam, Marcia Medley, Yvonne Medley, Eloisa McCutcheon, Sonia Watson-Pinkney and Alicia Strong. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a host of family and friends. Marcus was predeceased by his brother Terrence Anderson. His west coast family and friends celebrated Marcus' life on Oct. 2. There will be a Celebration of Life Service for his east coast family and friends to attend on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 3 pm at Ebenezer Temple UHCA, 2194 Main St., Hartford, CT 06120. At Marcus' request, his ashes will be spread at a private ceremony at his father's estate in Jamaica.
