GOLOWCZYK, Margaret (Wilhelm)

Margaret (Wilhelm) Golowczyk, 81 of Manchester, widow of Alex Golowczyk, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at a local convalescent home. Margaret was born December 11, 1931 in Altzedlisch, Germany, daughter of Josef and Maria (Feigler) Wilhelm. She was raised in Altzedlisch and Nueinhein im Taunus, Germany, and emigrated to the United States in 1957 where she resided in Glastonbury. She moved to Manchester in 1973 and became a longtime and faithful parishioner of St. Bridget Church. Prior to retiring she was employed by the former Iona Manufacturing Company of Manchester and the former Bristol Brass Company in South Windsor. Margaret enjoyed tending her vegetable garden and was a prolific knitter, often knitting items for the nurses and their families while at the hospital for her treatments. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Klaus and Sandy Schmitt of Norwalk, CT; her sister, Rosa Worzischek of Bad Soden, Germany, and several nieces and nephews in Germany.
Funeral services are Saturday, August 10, 9:30 a.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery in Manchester.
