Marguerite WOOD Obituary

WOOD, Marguerite Miller Marguerite (Peggy) Miller Wood, the wife of the late Grant Wood died on Friday (June 25, 2010) at Manchester Manor, She was born in Mahopac, NY the fifth daughter of Bernard and Mary Anne (Dooney) Miller. Peggy attended Mahopac High School and Rider College and graduated from Manchester Community College. She moved to Connecticut in 1941. Before her retirement she worked at Pratt & Whitney in the Purchasing Dept. and later worked for the Town of Manchester, as a secretary, for twenty-four years. Peggy was an active member of the Church of the Assumption and a member of the churches Ladies Guild. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Grant B. and Miriam Wood and Gary J. and Judith Wood; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her son James E. Wood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (08) at 11 AM at the Church of the Assumption, Manchester followed by burial in St. James Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Assumption 285 West Center St. Manchester, CT 06040 The John.F. Tierney Funeral Home, Manchester has care of arrangements.
