GRYSZKIEWICZ, Maria (Jarmoszko)
Maria (Jarmoszko) Gryszkiewicz, of Hartford, wife of the late Edward Gryszkiewicz and beloved mother grandmother and great-grandmother, left us to be with God on Monday, (May 20, 2013) surrounded by her family at her home in Hartford. Born in Lesniki, Poland on February 24, 1916, daughter of the late Wincenty and Waleria (Abramowicz) Jarmoszko, she was raised in Lesniki, Poland and had lived in Suchowola, Poland before moving to the United States and settling in Hartford in 1963. Maria worked at Heublein, Inc. for over 20 years before her retirement in 1988. She was a devoted parishioner at S.S. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford for 50 years and also attended masses at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Hartford. She was a member of the choir at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church into her 90's and she was a longtime member of the Rosary Society and the Polish Women's Alliance Group #280. Maria will be remembered as a spiritual woman who was dedicated to her family, her faith, and her church. She leaves a son, Andrew Gryszkiewicz and his wife Shannon of Easton; two daughters, Lucy Drozd, wife of the late Ronald Drozd, and Krystyna Wislo and her husband Dr. George Wislo of Newington; a sister, Honorata Szyszkiewicz of Poland; seven grandchildren, Steven Drozd of Middletown, Michael Drozd and his wife Veronica of Unionville, Melinda Cook and her husband Josh of Roslindale, MA, Dr. Valerie Wislo of Pittsburgh, PA, Alina Gryszkiewicz, and Diana Gryszkiewicz both of Easton; five great-grandchildren, Alenka, Zosia, Jaden, Logan, and Brennan; and many nieces, nephews and other family members in the United States and Poland. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Jan and Franciszek Jarmoszko; and three sisters, Jadwiga Zyskowski, Janina Pozniak, and Amelia Wlosek.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, May 24, 9:15 a.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford, followed by a Funeral Mass, 10 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 5-8 p.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home. Maria's family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the SS.
