I just found out about her passing today as we had fallen out of communication. Maria & I met online in 2010 because of a misrouted confirmation email for a hotel reservation. We enjoyed sharing the same name. We never met in person but got to know each other via phone conversations and emails. From the short time I knew her I found her to be a loving, passionate person and spoke often of her love for her daughters. My condolenses to Marissa & Rebecca.

Maria, I only met you few times before Mark's and Sarah's wedding and I knew that you were a kind and loving person to everyone. You will be missed by all the people that you knew here on earth, and I know that you will be watching over us where you are now.

Dear Family, Co-Madre Lola,Marcia,Buddy, Alex,Martin and Nick,Marissa,Rebecca,Todd and Friends..As you all know,This wonderful woman,Maria (Marissa I) was my dear daughter in law and a wonderful wife and mother: she worked for the state of CT for over 20 years,and was very, very intelligent and capable. she worked full time, was raising 2 beautiful teenagers, was talented, loving and giving..she was the best thing that ever happened to my son, a marriage of 18 years, but was also beginning, enjoying and fulfilling a life without him..we are all stunned,saddened and hurting at this tremendous loss, of such a wonderful person, but we know "to be absent from the body,is to be present with the Lord" and that she now lives with Him..the girls have inherited her gentility, courtesy, integrity, sportsmanship, intelligence and beauty..and wherever far they will go in life,her stamp of love will be within them..she cared about others, was loving, giving, very,very creative and kind. She could do anything,and if she didn't know how,she would teach herself: to knit,play the piano,gardening..she was so creative and joyful..filling up every minute with something new and different ,and then,teaching it to others, including the Hula Dance to neighboring children....She did not drink, smoke or take drugs, she was also very spiritual and often attended St.Bartholmew’s church in Manchester, CT as well as others, and we prayed a lot together....she was definitely a woman who loved God... we cannot know why she died,or why anyone dies so young, but while she lived, she left legacies of peace,humility,understanding,patience and love that will long endure for us all to remember. She was so funny and joyful and the best hula-hooper I have ever seen , winning contests where ever they held them..and she was as beautiful as Kristi Yamaguchi! Moreso..because of her wonderful heart for others that treated all with respect,dignity, and love and understanding, including me,a mother-in-law for life. I will always remember your mom. She was a very kind person who was very thoughtful of others.
I can't even count how many school events and activities we sat through together over the years. We were often found talking about all her travels and adventures or laughing at how embarrassed our kids are about how goofy their moms are :)
