Marie J. Alamed

Marie J. Alamed, 98, passed away on January 8, 2023 at Westfield Gardens. Born in Granby, CT on August 27, 1924 to the late Joseph and Mary (Mikuski) Madden, she graduated from St. Mary's High School Westfield, Ma.

For many years and until her mid- 70's, Marie was a licensed Daycare provider out of her home. She had also previously worked at Anderson's Metal Products, White's Quaint Shop, Stanley Home Products and the Community Drug Store.

Marie loved to knit and crochet, enjoyed watching the Celtics, Red Sox, and her favorite TV shows with a bowl of chocolate ice cream, was a Gold Star Mother, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the American Legion Post #338, and a volunteer at the Southwick Senior Center. She was a longtime faithful communicant, member of the Rosary Alter Society and choir member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish as well.

Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, William R. Alamed, Sr.; her son William R. Alamed, Jr.; her daughter Sandra Solek; her daughter-in-law Cynthia Alamed; her grandson Deric Solek and her sister Irene Klesczewski.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her sons Thomas F. Alamed and his wife Marie C., Edward P. Alamed and his wife Susan, and Jeffrey; her grandchildren Carol Lisella (Anthony, Sr.), Justin Solek (Ashley), Benjamin T. Alamed (Christine), Jesse A. Alamed, Jason W. Alamed (Melissa), Scott Oberst, John Oberst, and Tammy McKay (Dan); her granddaughter-in-law Tracey Solek; her great grandchildren Jennifer, Anthony, Jr.(Devon), Stella, Colton, Hayden, Kendall Samuel, and Sunny; her sister Barbara Schmidt as well as many nieces, nephews, and devoted friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 4 – 7 PM at Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 beginning at 9:45 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, Sheep Pasture Road, Southwick. Burial will be in New Cemetery.
