Marilyn C. (Conley) Whitney, age 80 of Newington, CT passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Marilyn was born on May 10, 1940 in Thompsonville, CT and grew up in Suffield, CT as the youngest of four children. She graduated from Suffield High School and started her career right away at the Aetna Life and Casualty and gradually worked her way up in the company to Director of Employee Benefits. They spent many vacations in Ogunquit, ME and often traveled to Norwich University for Class Reunions. For seventeen years, they wintered in Myrtle Beach, SC where they made wonderful long lasting friendships. Marilyn also enjoyed knitting and made beautiful heirlooms for her great granddaughters. She was affectionately named GiGi by the girls who brought her total joy. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband Conrad, three step-children: Patricia Burns (James) of Strongsville, OH, Brian Whitney (Paula) of West Hartford, CT and John Whitney (Carrie-Lynn) of Edgartown, MA; six step-grandchildren, Matthew Whitney (Sarah) of West Hartford, Brian Michael Whitney of Hartford, Conor Whitney (Marissa) of West Hartford, Morgan Whitney of Unionville, Allison Burns and her longtime boyfriend Bryan McCauley of North Ridgeville, OH and Matthew Burns of Cleveland, OH and three step great granddaughters: Julia, Faye, and Samantha Whitney: a sister Ellen Ortyl (Nicholas) of Burlington, MA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John and Esther Conley, her sister Esther C. Shea, brother-in-law Robert W Shea, brother, John J. Conley, Jr, sister-in-law, Thelma P. Conley and nephew Robert J. Shea. Marilyn will be missed dearly by all of the Whitneys, Callahans, and Burns families and countless other dear friends and relatives.
