MASSEY, Mavis Barnes Mavis Barnes Massey, 84, passed away peacefully Wednes day, (April 19, 2006) with her beloved family by her side at Branford Hospice. She was born May 14, 1922, the daughter of the late Nelson and Velma (Henry) Barnes. Mavis loved to knit and do needlework, she will be remembered for her kind, loving and giving manner. She was a past member of Westbrook Congregational Church, where she acted as Deaconess and was past president of the Congregational Church Ladies Society. She leaves behind her adoring children, Beverly Powers and her husband Greg, Linda LaMonaca and her husband Frank, all of Clinton; and a sister, Lillian Malis of Cheshire. In addition she leaves seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, 11a.m. at Westbrook Congregational Church, 1166 Boston Post Rd., Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mavis's memory to the Branford Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405 or to the Westbrook Congregational Church.
