Michael Jay Jozwik

1971 - 2023

Michael Jay Jozwik, 52, of Farmington, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at his home. Born in Hartford on May 13, 1971, son of the late John and Maria (Kokiel) Jozwik, he was raised in Hartford until the age of 10 when he moved to Farmington with his family. While living in Hartford, Michael attended SS. Cyril & Methodius School and after moving to Farmington, he attended Farmington Public Schools and was a graduate of Farmington High School, Class of 1989.



After high school, Michael continued his education at the University of Connecticut where he received his bachelor's degree in communications in 1993. For the past 12 years, Michael had worked at Quest Diagnostics and was presently serving as the Patient Services Group Lead in the Hartford area.



Michael served as a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Farmington for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and could be found fishing in the rivers, lakes, and ocean around Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont. His friends often referred to Michael as a "fishaholic" which he enjoyed. He was known for his wit, humor, and sarcasm. Overall, Michael was a fungi who didn't take life too seriously and who loved mushrooms and a good pun.

He leaves a brother, John C. Jozwik and his wife Roseanne of Burlington; a sister, Joanna Bolduc and her husband Russell of South Windsor; six nieces and nephews, Petrina Soulier and her husband Tyler of Bristol, Katarina McKenna and her husband John of New Britain, John F. Jozwik of Burlington, Stephanie Irene Mikesell and her husband Ethan of Saranac Lake, NY, Christina Falzone and her husband TJ of South Windsor, and Russell "RJ" Bolduc, Jr. of South Windsor; five great-nieces and nephews, Isabella Soulier, Juliette Soulier, Wesley Soulier, Caroline Mikesell, and Gabriel Falzone; his maternal aunt, Franciszka Kokiel of Farmington; three stepchildren, Tyler, Hailey, and Megan Bishins; many cousins; and his beloved dog Copper. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Irene Stephanie Jozwik.

His family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 15, 5-8 p.m., at the Carmon Funeral Home and Family Center, 301 Country Club Rd., Avon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, August 16, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick Church, 110 Main Street, Farmington. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
