KENDZIOR, Michael Michael Kendzior, 87, husband of Mary, died Monday, (September 25, 2006) in Marlborough of cardiac arrest. Born in Colchester and educated in local schools, Mike was its Town Treasurer from 1953 to 1965, having been endorsed by both parties several times. He was active in many local organizations in the past, including President of St. Andrew's Holy Name Society; Member Colchester Lions; Fish & Game Club; St. Joseph's Society; Colchester Horseshoe League; Boy Scout Committee member in Troops #72 and #13, as well as Explorer Post #13. Mike served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and upon discharge became a silversmith at Baldwin Industries, retiring in 1983, after which time he worked at Harry's Place. An outstanding shortstop at Bacon Academy, Mike played for the Colchester Town Team in the 40's and 50's, with brothers George and Joe. An ardent fan of the Yankees he spent much of his retirement years watching sports programs, and enjoying Free Cell on his trusty computer. Mike and Mary were married in 1945 at Old St. Andrew's Church and shared 61 plus years. In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by son Alan and wife Laurel; daughter Nancy and husband Michael Bergeron; and grandsons Michael A. Kendzior, Jaron and Connor Bergeron, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Sophia Kendzior, and siblings Mary, John, Helen, Estelle, George, Joseph and Katherine. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church on Norwich Ave., Colchester. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Belmont Funeral Home, 144 South Main St., Colchester. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with full Military Honors.

I knew Mr. Kendzior many years ago when my late father, Louis Rose of East Hampton, worked there. I worked there in the summertime while I was in high school. My condolences to your family from mine.
