McCOY, Michael A.
Michael Anthony McCoy, born June 7, 1943, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January, 18, 2013. Mike passed away after a five year series of complications stemming from his battle with cancer. As was the case with is entire life, Mike handled his illness with the greatest of dignity, never thinking of himself and respecting others, putting their problems and issues ahead of his own. He is preceded in death by his father Floyd Walton and his beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Karen ("Betsy"), with whom he can now watch over his family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Johanna ("Betty"), his son Michael, his daughter in-law Diane and his grandchildren Colin and Kelsey. Mike and Betty moved to Avon, CT in 1979 where he enjoyed a successful tenure of 22 years with The Hartford Insurance Group. He and Betty retired to Tomball, TX in 2001 to live near their son and grandchildren. Mike's life was predicated on his protecting and providing for his family. His other passions in life were computers, Notre Dame football and Kentucky basketball.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 24 at 12 p.m. at the family plot in St. Ann Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lakewood United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 11330 Louetta Rd., Houston, TX 77070.
