Michael Slowey Obituary

Michael F. Slowey, 64, of Oxford, MA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Mike was born on May 15, 1958, in Bridgeport, CT, son to Frank J. Slowey and the late Elizabeth Anne (Brothers) Slowey.

Mike grew up in Massachusetts, attended local schools and was a graduate of Longmeadow High School and Holyoke Community College. He was employed by DuPont Chemical in Marlborough, MA, formerly known as Dow Chemical, Rohm & Haas and Shipley, for many, many years. Mike was a kind-hearted, generous, and hardworking man. Everyone enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor and his warm smile. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Mike was an avid New England Patriots fan and could be found cheering on all of the Boston sport's teams throughout the year. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his crop with all he knew. Mike will be sorely missed, and we will forever hold his memories in our hearts.

In addition to his father, Michael is survived by his two siblings, James D. Slowey and his wife Linda of Oxford, MA, and Sondra A. Malicki and her husband Barry of Wethersfield, CT; his niece, nephews and their families, Joshua Hilditch, Denis Seeley, Nicole Hunter, James Slowey and Corey Malicki; as well as many grand nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

Calling hours for Michael will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 6, beginning at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield, CT. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT. To leave an online message of condolence for his family, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.

I´ve known Mike since 1987, when I was part of the Shipley Summer work program. He was my first Boss and while we moved on to different departments in Marlborough, we´d often stop in the hall and reminisce about the cast of characters we saw come through PWB. Work stories of Reggie, Rambo, Stickman and many others always put big smiles on our faces. This place just won´t be the same without our "do you remember" conversations. Big Mike, you will be missed!

Dear Mr. Slowey:
We are so very sorry for Mike's passing. He was an integral part of our production team at DuPont and always willing to help with his wealth of knowledge and advice. He truly represented the best of our company values, and his influence is evident through his long 38-years with us. He was not only our colleague but a friend to many of us. We will miss him. We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
