Myrtle Leiler Obituary

LEILER, Myrtle J. Myrtle Jane Beers Leiler, 100, of Durham died Wednesday (September 19, 2007), at Wadsworth Glen, Middletown. She was born March 17, 1907, in Edmore, MI, a daughter of the late Ernest and Angeline (Hunt) Beers. She was the wife of the late William Henry Leiler. Myrtle grew up in Sturgis, MI and moved to Elkhart, IN where she worked as a bookkeeper for Auto's Specialties. She had been a very active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkhart and had been a member of their Ladies Aid and Lutheran Braille Workers until moving to Connecticut in 1998. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wallingford. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Maxine Smith Leiler of Durham, with whom she lived until last year; a brother, Chester Beers, of Sturgis, MI; a sister, Edna Gillan, of Burr Oak, MI; two grandchildren, Rennye Leiler and Steven and his wife April Leiler; and 3 great-grandchildren, Sadie Lynn, Elsie Jane, and Henry Gordon Leiler all of Durham; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Gordon Eugene Leiler, a sister, Gladys Parsons, a brother, Cecil Beers, and 2 half-brothers, Walter & Clarence Gilbo. Her funeral will be held on Monday, September 24 at 2 p.m., with a calling hour beginning at 1 p.m. The service will be at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford, CT. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Elkhart, IN at the convenience of the family. Those wishing to make a donation in her memory, consider her Lutheran Braille Workers, Inc. P.0.
