Nicholas Polansky Obituary

Nicholas Polansky, Jr., 68, of South Windsor, died Wednesday, (April 30, 2003) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of 39 years of Joan (Roberts) Polansky. Born in Olyphant, PA, son of the late Nicholas and Sophie (Labosky) Polansky, he had lived in East Hartford and Vernon for most of his life before coming to South Windsor seven years ago. He was a navy veteran of the Korean War serving on several ships including the U.S.S. Intrepid. Mr. Polansky was a life member of Post 2083, V.F.W. in East Hartford. He served the Post in numerous positions including Commander and as National Assistant Sergeant at Arms for the State of Connecticut. He was a licensed Plumber and had worked throughout the area for many years, the last seven at the Manchester Home Depot. Besides his wife, he leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Julie Polansky of Vernon; his daughters and son-in-law, Bobbie Owens of Ellington, Debra LeBel of Bloomfield and Niki and Joe DeRosie of Tolland; three grandchildren, Zachary and Nicholas D. Polansky and Jenelle DeRosie. He also leaves his sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Amos Kentfield of Vernon and Celia and Danny Skiba of East Hartford and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jessica Ann Polansky. The funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 2 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 33 West Street, Vernon. Burial with military honors will be in South Cemetery, Tolland. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108. Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, Vernon, has care of the arrangements.

My deepest sympathy to the Polansky family. I know that in time the hurt and pain from Mr. Polansky's death will lessen. May you keep his memory in your hearts and lives.
