MELLEN, Norma (Wright) Norma (Wright) Mellen, 83, of Simsbury, beloved wife of John A. Mellen, passed away on Tuesday, (June 14, 2005) after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Born on March 20, 1922 in Rocky Hill to Clifford and Elsie Wright, she graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1940. Norma and John married on February 24, 1942. After the war, they settled in Cromwell before moving to Simsbury in 1960. After employment at Connecticut General, she pursued many hobbies, including doll repair, amateur radio and gardening. Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Fred Martini of East Hartford; her son, David Mellen of Simsbury; her granddaughters, Edith Smith and husband Johan of Texas, and Diane Huseby and husband Johs of Malden, MA; her brother-in-law, Oliver Mellen and his wife Connie of Wethersfield; her sister-in-law, Irene Murphy and her husband Val of Cromwell; and many cherished nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to Valia Stamburska, who provided loving and devoted care to Norma in her final years. Calling hours will be held Monday, June 20 from 5-7 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., CT Chapter, 96 Oak St., Hartford, CT 06106 or Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance Assoc., P.O. Box 301, Simsbury, CT 06070.
