Oliver Adams Obituary
Oliver Adams, Sr., 92, of Windsor, beloved husband of Willie Grace (Brown) Adams, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Kimberly Hall Nursing Home. Born in Richland, GA to the late General Lee and Minnie Lee (Mathis) Adams. He was raised in Georgia and came to Hartford with his wife Willie in 1956 before settling in Windsor over 20 years ago. Oliver served his country proudly with the US Army during WWII and was a member of the Phillips Metropolitan CME Church in Hartford. He was a caring man who regularly visited the sick. Besides his wife Willie of Windsor, he is survived by his sons Stanley, Joseph (Stephney), and Carl Adams, all of Windsor, and Michael Adams of Maryland; his daughters Annie Grace Adams of GA, Katherine and Josephine Adams, of Windsor, Carolyn Adams of Hartford, and Jennifer Cooper (Lawrence) of Windsor; his brothers Hanson Adams (Eula) of Windsor and Wilburn Adams of GA; thirty-eight grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Oliver Adams, Jr., his brothers Leroy, Menzo and John Adams, and his sisters Annie Brown, Carrie and Rosalie Adams, Doris Williams, Bertha Wilson and Armenta Murray. The wake will be held on March 29 at Phillips Metropolitan CME Church, 2500 Main St. Hartford at 9 AM followed by the funeral service at 10 AM. To the Adams Family, Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot Heal. It has been a joy being in the presence of Oliver when he visited my Mother-in- law, Janie Mae Thomas Bell. We are certain they are now rejoicing in Heaven. For there is no more pain, trouble, or sorrow. Nothing but Joy in that Land. May you find comfort in knowing he has gone to a better place and if we abide by the lord's commands, we will all see our loved ones again. Most importantly, Without Holiness, no man shall see The Lord! Weeping may endure for a night but Joy comes in the morning! Until in the morning, Oliver!

Having taught several of the Adams's children at Hartford Public High School, I know at first hand what wonderful parents Mr. Adams and his wife were.
