1929 - 2021

Parbeto Augustus DeCordova, 91,of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Parbeto was a loving, exuberant and dedicated husband, Dad, Granddad and Great Grandad. He was born September 8,1929 in Hinds Town, St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies, to the late Arnold and Effegena (Brown) DeCordova. Parbeto spent his childhood in Duhaney Pen, Morant Bay, St. Thomas, Jamaica. In 1952, he migrated to the United States on a farm laborer contract to work at Camp Windsor tobacco field in Windsor, CT. After leaving Camp Windsor, he was employed with City Iron Works in Hartford for 8 years, and Shepard Steel Co. Inc. in Hartford for over 25 years. After retirement, he worked for Copaco Shopping Center in Bloomfield for over 5 years. Parbeto was a lifetime member of the West Indian Social Club in Hartford and a founding member of the Independent United Order of Mechanics Lodge of Hartford. Parbeto leaves to mourn his wife Gem (McKenzie) DeCordova of Bloomfield and children; Byron DeCordova of St. Thomas, Jamaica, WI; Darrian DeCordova of London, UK; Robert (Marisel) DeCordova of Hartford; AnJeanette McKenzie-Preston (Julius) of Meriden; Endia DeCordova of Windsor; Paushawna DeCordova-Boyd (Gabriel) of New Britain, Kezner DeCordova of Bloomfield, and Kerone DeCordova(Sharins) of Hartford; 29 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his sons: Donny DeCordova of St, Thomas, Jamaica, WI and Keeling (Bonny) DeCordova (Maxine) of Hartford; siblings: Lawrence DeCordova, Carmen DeCordova and Cicley Parks. Calling hours: Thursday, Feb.11, 2021 from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at The Lodge, 130 Deerfield Rd, Windsor. Funeral service: Friday, Feb.12, 2021, viewing 10 a.m.– 11 a.m., service starting at 11 a.m. at The Lodge. Burial will take place in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield immediately following the service.
