VERVERIS, Pauline (Stefanou)

Pauline (Stefanou) Ververis, 89, of Avon, passed away at the McLean Home in Simsbury. Wife of the late Nicholas P. Ververis. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Anna Stefanou, brother Nicholas C. Stefanou and niece Lisa Stefanou. She leaves behind her devoted daughter Anastasia Ververis-Pezzuoli; son- in-law Andrea; sister Harriet S. Geragosian and her husband Atty. Harold Geragosian; and nephew John C. Geragosian and family. Cousins Bill and Bea Hooper and their families in New Jersey. Pauline was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, aunt and sister. In the Greek tradition, an excellent cook, as most in her family she made the best meat sauce of all. A meticulous homemaker and could organize a closet in record time, a great painter as she did in her daughters new home in Avon in 1975 and matched every color perfectly. Pauline had a true love story, while on a visit to her aunt and uncle in New Jersey, she met Nick who was on leave from the Army visiting his godfather. He went to their restaurant, where he first saw Pauline, he asked her uncle if he could take her on a date. This was in mid March 1945; well on April 7, they would marry by justice of the peace. On June 24, 1945, they were married in a traditional Greek Ceremony. Their parents were so proud as she married a nice Greek boy from a good family as was the tradition in those days. Pauline's daughter would like to thank the nurses, aides, social workers hospice team, volunteers as they stayed with her on her final days also the beauty salon for their care dedication and respect shown to her mother at this most difficult time there are not enough words to express the feelings she has for Sky View Terrace Staff.
