Peter SENAK Obituary

SENAK, Peter Sr. Peter Senak Sr., 91, of Bristol, beloved husband of the late Helen Caroline (Zima) Senak for over 50 years, entered the gate of heaven Sunday, (November 22, 2009) at Bristol Hospital with his loving family at his side. Born in in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Peter and Eva (Puknik) Senak. He was a retiree of Bristol Brass after 41 years of service. A life-time member of the Bristol (American) Polish Citizens Club, he was also a member of St. Stanislaus Church. Peter's parents died when he was very young. As a consequence, most of Peter's young siblings were placed in various orphanages in the U.S. In 1939, after he married Helen, he began removing his younger brothers and sisters from the orphanages and raised them with his young son, Peter, Jr. Throughout his life he retained old school beliefs on morality, appearance and good citizenship. He believed very strongly in education and the importance of sports and music. Peter loved baseball—the New York Yankees were his favorite team. He was the former East Bristol Grammar School team's only catcher and won the city championship in 1931. In the 40's he played his accordion in a polka band in area towns at weddings, dances, etc. He also loved to play checkers, cribbage and pinochle. Above all, Peter loved his grandchildren and sharing his skills and talents with them. Peter is most lovingly survived by his son and his wife, Dr. Peter Senak, Jr. and Barbara (Panus) of Bristol; two brothers, George Senack of North Carolina and Stanley Senak of Massachusetts; two sisters, Helen of Bristol and Anna Foody of South Windsor; two grandchildren, Peter Senak, III and David Senack; and on great-grandchild, Ira Senak. Besides his wife, Helen Caroline, he was predeceased by two brothers, John and Joseph Senak. The family of peter would like to express a very special "Thank You" to Grace and Victor Cwiek for the outstanding assistance and support they provided. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25 from the Stanley Suchodolski Funeral Home, Inc., 444 West Street, (Rt. 69) Bristol to St. Stanislaus Church in Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol. Dear Peter and Barbra,
I remember your dad at Crisla's wedding, what a kind, gallant man, and what a twinkle in his smile.
I was blessed to have met him that day.
The memorial service today was sad and happy, sad because he is no longer here on earth with us, but happy because he has gone to heaven to be with God, and where we will all meet with our loved ones one day.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences, you two are two of the nicest people Steve and I know.
Our love,
JoAnn and Steve
