Priscilla Forsyth

Priscilla (Johnson) Forsyth, 86, of Newington, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late William T. Forsyth and Paul Morin. Daughter of the late Harry E. Johnson, Sr. and Ruth (Mycroft) Johnson, she was born and raised on Lonesome Pine Farm in Arnold's Mills, Rhode Island. Priscilla conquered polio at an early age and graduated from Cumberland High School in Rhode Island. She always noted that she was the only girl in her classes of physics, chemistry and calculus. Priscilla received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Rhode Island College and Master of Science in Art Education from Central CT State University. She taught in many school systems including, East Machais, ME, Newington, and West Hartford and was a licensed Real Estate Broker. Priscilla was an accomplished painter and enjoyed painting portraits of homes, landscapes and her family. She lived independently and was an inspiration to her sons and daughter in times of trouble. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves her son Andrew J. Forsyth and his wife Jerilyn of PA, Lauren F. Barnicle and her husband Peter of Newington, and Robert B. Forsyth and his wife Mary of Amston, and 6 grandchildren, Jason Venti and his wife Tanya of PA, Thomas Barnicle and his wife Shaina of Newington, Karen Garro and her husband Lucian of Ludlow, MA, Ellen Murphy and her husband Colin of Wakefield, RI, Hannah and Abigail Forsyth of Amston and two great grandchildren, Olive Garro and Jade Venti. Priscilla also leaves many friends at Oakwood Estates in Winter Haven, FL and at the Newington Senior Center. She was predeceased by her brother Harry E. Johnson, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, Jan. 11th, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.
