LABBE, Reginald "Reggie" Jr. Reginald "Reggie" Labbe, Jr., of Plainville, passed away on his 60th birthday, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, (November 18, 2004). Reggie was born in northern Maine on November 18, 1944, son of the late Reginald Labbie, Sr. and Rose (Saucier) Labbie. A longtime resident of Plainville, he was employed at General Electric for 35 years, where he leaves many friends and co-workers. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for over four years during the Vietnam Era, and was included as part of the honor guard for John F. Kennedy's funeral. He took pleasure in attending car shows with his best buddy, Steve Shields, and made a hobby out of restoring his 1967 LeMans. His family meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment they shared together, including their yearly family vacations. Reggie was a friend to all who knew him, and will be remembered most for his warm-hearted, yet manly personality, and always having a kind word for everyone. He leaves his beloved wife of 40 years, with whom he shared a special bond, Janet (Stitcher) Labbe of Plainville; his son and daughter-in-law, Reginald J. and Kelly Labbe of Southington; two daughters, Krista Labbe and Robin Arens and her husband, Lawrence, all of Plainville. He was affectionately known as 'Poppy" to his four grandchildren, Paris J. Labbe, Lindsay M. Cestone, and Jenna and Jillian Arens. He also leaves a brother, Adrian Labbie of Southington; two sisters, Arline Shappy of Southington and Maryetta Beinkowski of Plainville; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his faithful companion, Greenlee, who enjoyed many rides in the LeMans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, Flanders Rd, Southington. Committal services with Military Honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville is assisting the family with arrangements. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, c/o Dr. Kenneth Miller, 330 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
