Richard Linden Obituary

Richard Linden (Rick), age 69, of Andover, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on April 16th, 2023 in Venice, Florida.

Rick was born in Rye, NY on October 26th, 1953. He graduated from Cornell University with a BS in biology and an MBA from the University of Chicago. Rick initially worked as a hospital administrator for 20 years. He then discovered his passion for teaching and became a proud member of the RHAM community teaching chemistry. He took great joy in creating a fun learning environment for his students. It was rumored that Mr. Linden would dress up as Professor Snape on rare occasion, though his students were never able to prove this.

Rick enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hiker, runner, swimmer, biker, and skier. He also had a passion for volunteer work. This included testing the water quality of Andover Lake out on his canoe, leading nature walk tours in Florida preserves around his retirement home, tutoring students online, and much more. Rick had a special ability to make his many adventures and everyday life experiences more light-hearted, easygoing, and silly for the people around him.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Linden; his children, Ellie and John; his brother, Robert (Bob); and his niece and nephews, Beth, Jeremy and Todd.

A celebration of life ceremony is scheduled from 5:00-7:00pm on June 3rd at Patriots Park Lodge, 172 Lake St, Coventry, CT 06238. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to AHM Youth and Family Services (ahmyouth.org) and Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut (habitatect.org).

I was one of the students that Rick tutored online. I only had a few lessons with him, but he was one of the most amazing tutors, and I could tell that he was such a sweet and lovely person. I am only now finding out about his passing. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Teddy shared the news yesterday. Rick was a great guy and part of a wonderful family. I'm so sorry for your loss, and all our loss.

Rick was a genuine, affable man, a clearly involved Dad, and a gentle soul.

Many fond memories of sharing fun times as RHAM volleyball parents. The team made the most fabulous tie dye T-shirts courtesy of Rick´s special formula! Such a patient, fun loving guy who loved to share his passion for science with the kids. Sending condolences to the family. Lots of love, Amy Taylor
