Richard J. Macsuga Jr., 58, of South Windsor, CT, beloved husband of Mary (Ryan) Macsuga died peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 with his family surrounding him. He was born on September 8, 1959 in Hartford, CT, the son of Violet Baker Macsuga and the late Richard J. Macsuga. Rick grew up in East Hartford. He is a graduate of East Hartford High School and Southern Connecticut State University. He was competitive swimming throughout his childhood and college years. Rick married the love of his life, Mary Ryan in 1986. They lived in Bloomfield for many years, before moving to South Windsor. He worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Agriculture for 33 years. He worked with farmers all over the state organizing farmers markets, working with the Farmer's Market Nutrition Program, and helping to start the Veteran's Voucher Program. Rick had a passion for nature and the outdoors. He was an avid bird watcher and loved spending time on his boat fishing. He cherished the time he had to spend with his family at their home on Cape Cod. His family would to thank the nurses and staff at Manchester Manor and Masonicare for their kind and compassionate care. Along with his wife Mary of over 31 years, he leaves, his son, Kyle Macsuga of South Windsor; his daughter, Colleen Macsuga of South Windsor; his mother, Violet Macsuga of Glastonbury, his sisters, Laurie Pencz and her husband Wayne of East Hartford, and Susan D'Onofrio of Rockville; his sister-in-law Michelle Conran Macsuga wife of his predeceased brother John Macsuga of Manchester; his brother-in-law, Sean Ryan and his wife Jeanne of Cromwell; and his sister-in-law, Kathleen Aquillo of Glastonbury and a host of nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends on Sunday, October 29, 2017, from 4-7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017, 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the request of his family. to the Macsuda Family, I am so sorry for your the loss. I was lucky enough to be part of the staff at Camo Hi Hoti back in the late 70"s early 80's & that is where i met the East Harford crew,which Rick was a paert of. i know he will be truly missed by u all,

My sincere sympathies to Rick's family. I taught at East Hartford High when Rick was there. I had the privilege of teaching him in his freshman and senior years. He was always a respectful and very good kid. I was very saddened to learn about his passing.
