Richard Reilly Obituary

REILLY, Richard C. Richard C. Reilly of East Hartford, devoted husband of Eleanore M. (Stronawski) Reilly entered into eternal peace Thursday, (July 30, 2009) at home with his family by his side. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late John Joseph and Lavina (Gaudet) Reilly. A 1955 Weaver High School graduate, Richard lettered in four sports, baseball, basketball, track and co-captained the football team before joining the U.S. Army. He retired as a supervisor with the Metropolitan District Commission after 42 years. A communicant of St. Rose Church, he embraced fatherhood and adored his grandchildren. He will be immensely missed by everyone whose lives were touched by his humor, compassion, loyalty, dedication and his love. Sharing their loss, in addition to his beloved wife Eleanore, are his children, Richard B. Reilly and his wife Toni of East Windsor, Christopher W. Reilly and his wife Marguerite of East Hartford, Terry D. Reilly of East Hartford, Tracey E. Reilly of East Hartford, Donna M. and Joseph Pribanic of Pennsylvania, Sandra D. and Matthew Cuddy of Meriden. Richard is further survived by his brothers, Robert F. and Jane Reilly of Wethersfield, Donald Reilly of Wethersfield, Eugene and Mary Margaret Reilly of Jamestown, RI; his sisters, Beverly Strout of Wethersfield, Elizabeth Stocinis of East Windsor, Joan and Lewis Compson of Cromwell, and Mary Ellen and Roger Fortier of Simsbury. Richard was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, Joseph, Richard "Rickie", Sydney, Patrick, Jacob, Derek, Monica Shannon, Tyler, Nicholas, Meghan, Richard, and Madison. He also leaves his sister-in-law Teresa Reilly of Glastonbury; as well as many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his sister Margaret and brothers John and Joseph. Funeral Services will be held Monday August 3, 8:45 a.m., from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, August 2, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
