1931 - 2021

Robert Ezra Ayer, Jr., 90, of Farmington, beloved husband of Virginia (Holtz) Ayer, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, July 15th, 2021. Born April 27th, 1931 in Unionville, he was the son of the late Robert Ezra and Alice Marie (Kellogg) Ayer. Bob was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Prior to retiring, he was an Auto Mechanic at Atwood Chevrolet in Bristol and Parsons Buick in Farmington. Bob had a beautiful tenor voice and was a member of the Choral Club of Hartford which is composed of all male singers. Besides his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Debra Bayer of Ohio, Robert E. Ayer, III of Farmington, Virginia's children, Suzanne Senese of PA, Carolyn LeGeyt of Canton, Jeanne Wheeler of Canton, Timothy Wheeler of Canton, his grandchildren, Jon Price, Joel Price, Alexander Ayer, Katrin Ayer, Timothy Wheeler, Courtney Wheeler, Burton LeGeyt, Benjamin LeGeyt, Angelo Senese, Cara McCormick, Kristy Lawless, Sara Ruark, his great-grandchildren, Adelaide Price, Nicolas LeGeyt, Natalya LeGeyt, Simone LeGeyt, Adalyn McCormick, Maelyn McCormick, Evelyn McCormick, Liv Lawless and his former wife Ottilie Mason. He was predeceased by his son, John Ayer, his sister Dorothy Ayer and his brother Richard Ayer. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Tuesday (July 20) from 10:00-11:00am followed by a Prayer Service in the funeral home at 11:00am. Burial with full military honors will be in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington.
