Robert A. D'Alesandris

Robert A. D'Alesandris, 96, of Newington, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Delia (Concannon) D'Alesandris for 63 years. Born in Hartford, son of the late Crescenzo and Josephine (Basile) D'Alesandris, he lived in West Hartford for many years prior to relocating to Newington. Bob joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and honorably served his country during World War II. He retired from the Dept. of Transportation after 40 years of employment and was involved in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard. After his retirement, he began walking daily, building up to walks of five or more miles per day. He also enjoyed meeting with friends at a local coffee shop. Bob always made sure that there was ice cream in the house to offer to visitors when they came over. Bob enjoyed tending to his yard and was always there to lend a hand to someone in need. In more recent years, his daily routine started with a visit to his favorite bakery in Elmwood for two hot cross buns. Along with his wife, he leaves his daughter Susan Sousa and her husband Paul of Cromwell, and his grandchildren, Abby, Stephanie and Nathan Sousa. He also leaves his very dear friend and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Concannon of West Hartford, and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his brother, Loreto D'Alesandris. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 7th, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed immediately by a service, at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. He will be laid to rest with military honors following the service in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
