Dear Darling Family,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Bob's passing. As a former member of the Ensign Bickford Company I had many opportunities to interface with Bob and I always felt that I was in the company of a consummate gentleman who always put the best interest of people as his highest priority. He was a very generous person and a very nice individual. I have often thought of him and how much better our world would be if there were more Bob Darling's. I'm sure God will bless Bob. Bob Occhialini

Mrs. Darling and Family ~ I am the mom of Josh Taylor who was involved in the Ensign Darling Fellowship and was a Fellowship graduate in 2006. Mr. Darling IS (not "was" because I believe he "IS" now in Heaven) one of the nicest persons I've ever met. He was generous, but more than that, a "darling" man as his name states, kind, caring, and obviously extremely accomplished. He gave back to society in such a loving and helpful way. I know that Josh feels the same way...He tells many people about the Fellowship, lists it on all his graduate school applications, resume, and as a "fan" and "favorite group" on his Facebook page...He is so thankful for the opportunity and I am so thankful that he was given this special opportunity through the generosity, love, caring and assistance by not only Mr. Darling, but many other people involved in the Fellowship. It was a team effort and because of that, it was extremely successful. (Mr. Darling would be the first to give other people credit!) God bless you all; you are in my prayers. I know Mr. Darling is resting in peace singing to the Lord with the angels! :) My son and I are blessed to have known and been part of Mr. Darling's life and his passion for music and young people. Love, Sheila Taylor

To the Darling family,

My wonderful memories of Bob extend backward in time from recent get togethers in Weekapaug to our younger days as classmates at Yale and as prep school friends in greater Hartford. I’ll miss him very much. I’ll especially miss the rich, warm and lilting sound of his voice that unfailingly reminded me that I should be smiling and feeling good about myself and the world. Bob was one of the most gracious, generous and upbeat fellows I have ever known. I was very lucky to have had him as a friend for well over 50 years.
