Robert Erf Obituary

Robert Erf of Glastonbury died at home on March 21, 2016. He is remembered for his sincere interest in the lives of others and his unfailing ability to remember the important details of the lives of his friends and family, and their friends and their families. We remember Bob's passion for the University of Michigan he attended as an undergraduate and where he returned year after year for fall football games. Bob was active in the Congregational Church of South Glastonbury, where he was a member for over 50 years and where he served as the Superintendent of Sunday School and church Treasurer. Bob also joined the Board of Managers of the Glastonbury Family YMCA, which he served as President for 2 years, as well as the Board of Trustees for the Greater Hartford Metropolitan YMCA, which he served for over 5 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elva Congleton, and children Keith, Karen, Kate and Frank and his 10 grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Frances Knapp Erf and Herbert Erf, his sister, Magdalene, a brother, Herbert, and a grandson, Robert Kyle Erf. A memorial service will be celebrated at Congregational Church in South Glastonbury on Saturday April 9 at 2pm.

127 Carriage Drive was my second home in middle and high school. No better greeting when walking in then, "Ah Cheri, how was your day?" What a wonderful man.

Love and prayers to all you Erfs.

127 Carriage Drive was my second home in middle and high school. No finer greeting walking in the door then this, "Ah Cheri, how was your day?" What a wonderful man.

Much love and prayers to all you Erfs.

Smiles and a boisterous, infectious laugh are what first come to mind when I think of Bob Erf. Followed by many happy memories of parades, parties, holidays and other special occasions with family. To Mary Elva, Keith, Karen, Kate and Frank - my deep condolences to you on your loss. To Bob - thanks for the laughs and the memories and all the kindness you shared. RIP.
