Robert (Bobby) E. Morris, Jr., 70 of West Hartford passed away peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2023, at his residence at St. Mary Home in West Hartford. Bobby was born in Hartford, CT and one of five children of the late Robert Morris, Sr., and Mildred (McKinney) Morris. Bobby grew up in Hartford and was a graduate of Oak Hill School for the Blind. One of his memorable moments, was attending a Flyers game with his brother to feel and enjoy the excitement. He also enjoyed spending time at Camp Harkness in Waterford, CT in the summer for many years. Bobby would never forget to call on your birthday and anniversary. His kind soul will deeply be missed by his family and residents and staff at St. Mary Home, where he resided the past 20 years.

He leaves his three brothers, Charles Morris of London, England, Michael Morris and wife Jane of Glastonbury, CT and Brendan Morris and wife Julie of North Carolina and his sister MaryAnn Swol and husband Phil of Florida. At the South Windsor Public Library Sports Bob will go down as one of our most memorable patrons. I will miss hearing "Hello, my friend!" on Thursday evenings.

Bob Morris has been a friend for nearly forty years. Although we met in person only a few times, our frequent phone conversations created a bond as strong as you might have with a wonderful neighbor. He teased me about being a bit older, but he always kindly checked on the well-being of my co-workers and family, and he remembered every significant event in our lives. (My daughter had the good luck to be born on the day he attended that Flyers game in person!) His interest in sports and music led him to become our public library's most frequent and reliable "telephone patron;" his calls graciously started with "Is this a good time? Can you look up....?" We learned from each other and shared the observations and insights any good neighbor would provide. Please extend my condolences to the whole Morris family. Bob will be missed.

We are deeply saddened by the news of Bob's passing. Over the course of more than 28 years, he carved out a special place in the hearts of area librarians. What began as discussions about hockey scores evolved into conversations on a wide range of topics. His presence will be greatly missed. Our condolences to the family.
