SHEEHAN, Robert "Bob" J.


Robert "Bob" J. Sheehan, of Windsor Locks, husband of June E. (Fitzpatrick) Sheehan left this earth peacefully surrounded by his family on June 8, 2013. Born 85 years ago on January 7, 1928, at Hartford Hospital, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Mary C. (Glista) Sheehan and was a life long resident of the community. Bob and June were married at St. Mary Church 62 years ago on July 22, 1950. Bob was a graduate of St. Mary School and Windsor Locks High School. Bob retired from the Connecticut State Department of Highway after 39 years. In addition he worked for Hamilton Standard for 15 years at night and did surveying on weekends. His DOT work was interrupted for two years in service. He attended topographic school in Belvour, Virginia before being shipped to Korea. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years and in retirement he enjoyed gardening and was always there to help out his family. Bob always had his camera handy. Following graduation he played semi-pro baseball in Canada and coached Little League. In addition to his wife, June, Bob is also survived by his son, John Sheehan and his wife, Sue; three daughters, Karen Colone, Theresa Sheehan, Robin Sabine and her husband, Kenneth all of Windsor Locks; a son Timothy Sheehan and his wife, Lisa of Old Saybrook; 12 grandchildren, Keith Bouchard and his wife, Kate, Kelly Pierce and her husband, Michael, Lindsey DellaVecchia and her husband, Dean, Derek Sabine and his fiancé, Mary Cordeau, Luke Sheehan and his fiancé, Michelle Bowers, Christian and Cory Colone, Tim Flint, Kelsey, Robert, Emily and Nicholas Sheehan; four great-grandchildren, Jack and Brynn Bouchard and Emma and Kensington DellaVecchia; a sister, Mary Lang and her husband, Raymond; three sisters-in-law, Irene Fitzpatrick, Barbara Methot and Gayle Pietruszak; a brother-in-law, James Fitzpatrick and his wife, Norma and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by a son-in-law, Paul Bernstein and a brother-in-law, Joseph Fitzpatrick.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, from 4-7 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be celebrated on Wednesday June 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT 06096 (Please go directly to the church). Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the John F. Fitzpatrick Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 653, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
