Ronald Organek Obituary

Ronald Lawrence Organek, 80, of Middletown, beloved husband of Carol (Chalker) Organek, died Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Middletown, son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Jagoda) Organek. Ron was a proud veteran serving with the US Army during the Vietnam War, as well as serving during Desert Storm while in the Army Reserves. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a copier technician with the Xerox Company. He was a devoted family man and always there to support his family and friends without exception. You could always count on him for some kind of story which would always include smiling and laughing. Ron was active in numerous veterans' organizations and groups throughout the State. He was the Founder and first president of the Greater Middletown Military Museum located on Ronald L Organek Way in Middletown, CT. He was a recipient of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce William Pomfret Award which recognizes a veteran for his community service. He had a cable television show and a newspaper column for more than 20 years, both called "Veterans Corner", which highlighted the accomplishments of the local veteran community. He was very active in the American Legion baseball program. Ron is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Scott Organek and his wife Lindsay of Vernon; daughter, Karen Organek of Middletown; his granddaughter, Madison; brother, William Organek and his wife Chris of Fort Mills, SC; and sister, Barbara Hetrick of West Hartford. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Joseph. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held on Saturday, August 13th at 9 a.m. at the State Veterans' Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Calling hours will be on Friday, August 12th from 4 to 6 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown. Attendees are encouraged to dress casual for both and to share stories and laughter during the calling hours Those who wish may send memorial contributions to The Greater Middletown Military Museum.
