Ruth A. Engelke

Ruth Anna (Rock) Engelke, 89, of Enfield, entered into eternal peace Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at St. Joseph's Residence in Enfield surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Courtney) Rock. Ruth was raised in West Suffield where she resided for 50 years before moving to Windsor Locks. She was retired from Combustion Engineering and later was employed at Southern Auto for 15 years. Ruth enjoyed singing in the church choirs at both Sacred Heart Church in Suffield and then at St. Mary Church after she moved to Windsor Locks. Ruth bowled for many years in a league at Bradley Bowl and when she could no longer do that, she moved on to Wii Bowling at St. Joseph's. She loved Bingo, puzzles and traveling with her family and friends. She is survived by four children, Patricia Dineen of Niantic, CT, Keith Engelke, Sr. and his wife Darlene of Windsor Locks, Pamela Mears and her husband Mark of East Granby, Kimberly Whiteley and her husband Brian of Hopkinton, MA; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of many years, August Engelke, III, and a brother, Alfred Rock. Visitation hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2017 at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday Oct. 14, 2017 at St. Mary Church (Please Meet at Church) in Windsor Locks. Burial will follow at West Suffield Cemetery.
