Samuel M. Griswold

Samuel M. Griswold, 85, of Simsbury, husband of the late Delia (Gaouette) Dunn, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Anthology in Simsbury. He was born January 22, 1937 in Hartford, son of the late Almon and Katherine (Morse) Griswold and had lived in New Britain prior to moving to Simsbury. Sam was a Lineman for Hartford Electric Light Company (HELCO, now Eversource) for thirty years prior to his retirement. He loved boating with Delia on their power cruiser, Utopia, with Martha's Vineyard, Block Island and Jamestown, RI among their favorite destinations where they spent time with family and good friends. Sam was preceded in death by his oldest son, Jody Morse Griwsold. He is survived by his son Scott Griswold and wife Jennifer Griswold of Georgetown, TX; his son Brian Griswold and wife Juvy Griswold, also of Georgetown; his daughter Christine Lucas of San Antonio, TX; his step sons, Matthew Dunn of New Britain, and Douglas Dunn and his wife Kathryn Dunn of East Hartland; Grandchildren Patrick Lucas, Watford, UK; Arielle Griswold-Wheeler, San Antonio, TX, Danielle Griswold-Wheeler, Dallas, TX and Sophia Griswold, Findlay, OH. Per Sam's wishes, there will be no services. Burial was in Simsbury Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Save the Sound, 900 Chapel Street, Suite 2202, New Haven, CT 06510.
