Sebastian J. DiMauro

Sebastian J "Mickey" DiMauro, 98, of Portland (formerly of Cromwell) passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 8th, with his family by his bedside. He was the son of Salvatore and Sebastiana (Bartolotta) DiMauro. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Angela (Branciforte) DiMauro who he shared 62 years of marriage. He had been a resident of Portland Care & Rehab for the past six years. Mickey was previously a resident of Cromwell for over 75 years. He was a retired member of the Cromwell Fire Dept., and a co-founder and proud member of the Cromwell Italian American Club. Mickey was the owner of "Mickey's Fruitery" from 1940 to 1959. His big yellow bus traveled the many streets of Middletown, Portland, and Cromwell selling fruit and vegetables. He also worked for JJ Stevens, New Britain Foundry, & Branciforte Greenhouses. He retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in 1983 after 25 years of service. After his retirement he and Angie took the family on a vacation cruise to Bermuda, Nassau, and St Thomas. They also traveled to Hawaii, and Florida.His favorite past times were playing bingo, watching U-Conn Basketball, & Red Sox Baseball. His laughter & smile will be missed by all. Mickey is survived by his loving son, John and his wife Ann Marie, of Cromwell. His loving daughter Nellie Ann and her husband John Marchinkoski, of Portland. His brother Santino of Middletown and sister-in-law Dorothy Brancifort of Cromwell. His 9 grandchildren and their spouses: Robert & Alison Knybel, David & Donald Knybel, John & Sharon DiMauro, Michael DiMauro, Steven & Heather DiMauro, Amie & Paul Colla, Renee & Todd Ghent, Michele & Ryon Jagoda. He also leaves 12 Great-Grand children: Amanda, Sara, Marissa, Jake, Luke, Michael, Drew, Stephanie, Rocco, Maggie, Mollie, and JT. Mickey is now celebrating his eternal life with his wife Angie, daughter Elaine and husband Chet knybel and great grandchild Nicholas Knybel. His Brothers and their spouses: Louie and Connie, Jimmy and Marie, Joe and Phyllis, Angelo and Irene DiMauro. His sisters, Rose and Sal Passinese, Tina and John Salafia; Annie and Louis Danielle. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 17, at 9 a.m. at the D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Mary's Church in Portland for 10 a.m., with interment to follow in St. Sebastian's Cemetery, Middlefield. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, June 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. Mickey's pall bearers are Grandchildren Robert Knybel, John, Michael, and Steven DiMauro as well as 2 great grandchildren Jake and Michael DiMauro. His honorary bearers are his 3 Granddaughters and their spouses, Amie & Paul Colla, Renee & Todd Ghent, Michele & Ryon Jagoda.
