Sheila Thompson

1933 - 2018

Sheila (Devaney) Thompson, 84, of Middletown died after a brief illness surrounded by her family on January 4th. She was born on December 10, 1933 in New Ferry, England. This caring, generous and unassuming woman was the daughter of the late James and Edith (Molyneux) Devaney. Sheila is survived by her husband Donald Thompson of Middletown, her daughter Vicki Taft (Craig) of Middletown, her son DJ Thompson (Maura) of Higganum and her daughter in law Debi Thompson of Higganum. Sheila was predeceased by her loving son Gary Thompson (Debi) of Higganum. Sheila has eight grandchildren: Jamie, Chris, and Ryan Shukis, Brooke, Morgan, and Gary Thompson, Donny and Danny Thompson, and two great grandchildren Selena and Kaden Shukis. Many nieces and nephews here in the U.S. and across the pond in England. A very special cousin and sister-in-law Ann Thompson and brother in law Skip and their son Greg, brothers in law Ted Thompson (Judy), Jim Thompson, and sisters in law Pat Sunderland (Wes) and Annette Bradley (Tom). Sheila was also predeceased by her three brothers, John, William (Alma), and Tony(Ann) all of England and her sister in law Gayle (Jim)Thompson of Arizona. Sheila loved to swim with her friends at Woodrow Wilson Middle School and visit the senior center for exercising. Sheila was retired from Riverview Hospital and found most enjoyment with her family visiting from England. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m., January 9th at Coughlin Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown. Burial will be at a later date at Veteran's State Cemetery. Services will begin on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
