Sisto Carroccia Obituary

Sisto J. Carroccia, 85, of Newington, loving husband of Mary (Donlon) Carroccia for 59 years, passed away surrounded by his family, on Friday, February 17, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria (Spirito) Carroccia. He grew up in Farmington and settled in Newington where he raised his family. He served his country honorably in the United States Army as a 12th Combat Engineer in Germany. Sisto was a truck driver for A. Rotondo & Sons in Avon for 38 years. He was a devout Catholic and faithful member of Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington. He loved traveling, especially to Amish country in Lancaster, PA, as well as going on European cruises. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time in his yard, biking, and found a quiet sense of pleasure in simply taking a drive. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, calling it a blessing and announcing that he was the luckiest man alive during family gatherings. Sisto looked forward to the annual Holy Family retreat, attending for 40 years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife Mary, he leaves his daughters; Maureen Dudus (Tony), Ann Smith (Lawrence), and Karen McAuliffe; his grandchildren, Adam and Jaime McAuliffe, Kristine, Kathryn and Jacqueline Dudus and Emma and Caden Smith. He also leaves his brother Michael Carroccia (Margaret), his sisters; Josephine Kotler and Maria Nahom and brother-in-law Joseph Basile. He was predeceased by his sister Angela Basile and brothers-in-law Alvin Kotler and Edmund Nahom. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave. in Newington followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 12:00 p.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington. Sisto Carrocia was a good man, and he made the world a better place for his presence in it. He had a number of accomplishments and clearly a strong connection with family and community. It was a pleasure to serve him here at the VA in primary care. I am glad to have known him for the past few years. I wish peace and good health to his family.

My thoughts go out to Sisto's family for your loss. He was a really nice man always greeted me whenever he saw me delivering the mail, and we talked about motorcycles, camping, or hockey. He will be greatly missed.

Sisto was a true family man. He had a great big smile, a genuine laugh and a willingness to help anyone but what sets him apart from the rest is his ability to tell stories and keep us riveted. The world has sadness with his loss but with the memories that we carry in our hearts of Sisto brings out a little, warmth of  happiness during these difficult times. So Sorry for your loss. God Bless Sisto and Rest In Piece.

Sorry to hear about Sisto. He was a great guy. Part of the Lenolese descendants in Farmington. He worked on my dad's tree crew for a few years.

My deepest sympathy to Mary, and Sisto's daughters. I grew up on Garden St in Farmington, and visited with Sisto's parents often as a kid, with my parents. And years later taking my Mom to visit after my Dad passed. My mom always told me how much she loved Cuma Maria as a little girl in Lenola. Sisto was such a great guy, - kind, and loving like his parents. Such a gentleman, like his Dad. I didn't see him often, but he always would happily reminisce that my Dad took him to his first New York Yankee game as a kid. I believe my Dad, John Antigiovanni, was Sisto's Godfather. I always enjoyed talking with Sisto, and was saddened to read of his passing. My condolences to brother Michael as well. God bless you all during this very difficult time.

With love,

Peter Antigiovanni

Sisto was one of the first people I met when I started working at Peterbilt 16 years ago, and it's been a true pleasure knowing him and Mary since that day forward. If there's ever anyone that you wish you had met earlier in life, it was Sisto.
My prayers go out to Mary and his family.
Rest in Peace.

Sisto was the first neighbor to greet me when I moved to Newington. He even helped me pull up a rug in the den before the moving truck arrived! Generous and caring are not strong enough words to describe this wonderful man.
