SCHUR, Sophie (Shorr) Sophie (Shorr) Schur, 94 of Bloomfield formerly of Chula Vista, CA, died peacefully Friday (December 2, 2005). She was the beloved wife for over 30 years of the late Sam Schur. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of Joseph and Celia Shorr. She worked as a bookkeeper for Gimble's Department Store and RKO Studios in New York and Chicago. She was an avid card player and baker up to the end. She was talented and sought after for her beautiful crochet work making gifts for all occasions and friends, She was a kind and giving person having touched so many lives giving of herself. She and Sam traveled the country in their silver bullet motor home visiting every state except Alaska. Sophie was an active and long-time volunteer over many decades for the VA; Meals on Wheels, bingo, and auxiliary staff for hospitals. She is survived by two nieces, Carolann Schwartz of Wethersfield, Susan Meyerowitz of Bloomfield and nephews, Richard Ronner of the Bronx, NY, Saul Shorr of Philadelphia; great-nieces, Sherry Young, Stefanie Robinson, Sarah and Rebekah Meyerowitz and great- great-nephew, Joshua Young; and numerous other nieces and nephews and dear friends. Her beloved sisters, Dorothy Ronner, Esther Panich and two brothers, Lou and Nate Shorr predeceased her. The family is observing a private period of mourning. Donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Association. Her memory will be a source of strength and blessing for her entire family.
