Sophie Yukna Obituary

YUKNA, Sophie A. Sophie A . Yukna, 92, formerly of Parkview Dr., Plantsville section, died Saturday, (May 7, 2007) at Wolcott View Manor. She was the wife of the late Frank S. Yukna. Born in New Britain on Feb. 6, 1915, the daughter of the late Ignatz and Alice (Rusteika) Grushas. She Grew up in East Hartford and moved to Southington where she lived for the past 50 years. She had worked as a telephone operator for SNET in Hartford. She is survived by a daughter Pamela Yukna of Wolcott and a sister Julia Mabrey of St. Petersburg, FL, sister-in-law Emilie Yukna of Kensington and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Alex Grushas. A Mass will be held on Tuesday at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsville, CT at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. in Southington from 9-10 a.m. Memorial contributions to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
