Susan DuPont Obituary

DuPONT, Susan E. (Belisle) Susan Elizabeth (Belisle) DuPont, 64, went peacefully to heaven on the wings of angels into the loving grace of her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, (February 21, 2007). She was born in Newton, Massachusetts on January 29, 1943 to Eugene L. and Ruth (Macloon) Belisle, spending her childhood in the village of South Natick, Massachusetts, graduating from Natick High School in 1961. She lived in San Francisco, Boston, Hartford and West Hartford, Vermont and most recently in Essex and Middletown. An avid gardener, Susan started an organic community rooftop garden in Boston in 1971. She was an ardent environmentalist and designed earth-friendly RRR packaging for various products, holding multiple trademarks. Watching sports brought a special joy to Susan, and she was elated by the Red Sox's 2004 World Series, rooted for Harvard, Army, and the Pats, and loved both ice hockey and figureskating. She is survived by her four daughters and their families: Kate Belisle, Middletown and daughter Kara Ricci of Middletown and Deep River; Peter and Rev. Molly (Phinney) Baskette, Somerville, MA and children Rafael and Carmen; Rich and Tess Olsen of Hawaii, and baby Olsen who joins our world in July; and Samantha Q. DuPont, New York, NY. Also surviving are two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Gary (Val) Peterson of Vernon; Ruthie Bullard of Hobe Sound, FL; and Alexander Belisle of Hobe Sound, FL. She joins in heaven her parents; sister Margo Belisle of New York, New York; brothers Geoff Belisle of Amherst VA; and Philip Belisle of Natick, MA. Susan was a great wit and sparkling spirit who had an infectious laugh and a brilliant, heartwarming smile. She is beloved by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and has immeasurably touched the lives of all who knew her kind and gentle manner. All are welcome to join her friends and family in celebrating Susan's vibrant life at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 2 in Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich.

Susie was a wonderful sister, mother and woman wanting only better things for the earth! She is thought sweetly of often and sorely missed!

I'm so sorry & saddened to hear about the loss of your mother. Upon the news, a memory immediately came to my mind about her. When I was around 10 years of age, we had visited Aunt Nan (Daley) in the Bay Area and Susan was living in Berkeley at the time. She joined us as well and sometime during our outings had borrowed some small change from me. After returning home to Riverside, a couple of months later we received a letter addressed to Master DeWitt (my brother) & Miss Priscilla Stanford with a sweet note (which I still have) about our visit together along with a check in the amount of around 80 cents! I remember I was really surprised as I had forgotten all about it. Well, I've never forgotten her thoughtfulness in remembering especially since I'm sure it was my allowance. This simple act has always stayed with me, and of course was an example to always return what was borrowed. She was truly a beautiful woman. My deepest sympathies & prayers are with you and family. God Bless, Priscilla

It was with great sadness that I heard of the passing of my cousin, Susan. Although I didn't know her well, I have fond memories of the one visit my sister, Priscilla, and I had with Susan years ago. She was very sweet and welcoming to us. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

My sister Susie was always sweet and always wanted better things for this earth. Thinking back,I never remember an unkind word between us our entire lives. I will miss and always love her as she really was good to the depths of her soul. Love Ruthie
