Thomas H. CANFIELD Jr.

CANFIELD, Thomas H. Jr. Thomas H. Canfield, Jr., 85, of Palm Coast, FL and Rocky Hill, CT, passed away Saturday, (April 24, 2010), at home. He was born in Hartford, CT on September 30, 1924, the son of the late Thomas H. Canfield and Bertha (Morgan) Canfield. Tom served with the USCG Merchant Marines during World War II in both theaters. He was a businessman and owned Rocky Hill Automotive for over 50 years and served as a volunteer fireman and as a member of the volunteer ambulance in Rocky Hill. He was a member of the Lions Club, VFW club and the Masons. Tom is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Crane) Canfield of Palm Coast, FL; his children; Thomas and his wife, Elaine Canfield of Rocky Hill, CT; Michael Canfield of Palm Coast, FL; and Brett (Danny) and his wife, Nancy Canfield of Middletown, CT; his grandchildren, Jason, Ashley, Samantha, Matthew, Katie, Jackie, Jessie, and Sarah. He is survived by two brothers, George Canfield of South Windsor and Charles Canfield of Colchester; and three sisters, Bertha DiNunzio of East Hartford, Lois Tedone of Vernon, Emily Dowling of South Windsor; and many nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered for his late night wrecker calls and his love and compassion for all animals. A private burial will be at the convenience of his family.
