Thomas Dinda Obituary

Thomas Gerald Dinda, departed this life peacefully on Wednesday (September 25, 2002). He was born on March 29, 1929, the youngest of 11 children born to Frank and Mary (Pesta) Dinda. Tom is the loving husband for 51 years to Ruth (Selander) Dinda, married May 26, 1951. Tom was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army from 1951 to 1953. He was employed by The Stanley Works and Fafnir Bearing, retiring from Fafnir in 1987. Upon retirement, Tom began working for various area funeral homes, The Dolan Limousine Company, The Larson Livery Service and from 1997 until the present, was employed at the Farrell Funeral Home in New Britain. Tom's family was his greatest enjoyment in life. His love and all the wonderful memories he gave them will live forever in their hearts. Along with his wife, Ruth, he is survived by his children, Karen and her husband William Clark, Robin and her husband Dennis Ryley, Thomas and his wife Eileen Dinda, and Gary and his wife Joann Dinda; nine grandchildren, Keith and his wife Barbara Clark, Christopher and his wife Carrie Clark, Betsy Clark, Guthrie and Cody Dinda, Matthew, Sarah, and Thomas Dinda, and Dennis Ryley; and two great grandchildren; Kallie and Ashleigh Clark; a sister, Irene and husband Stanley Skoniecni; and a brother, Jacob Dinda. He also leaves to remember him a host of family members and many friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 9 a.m., from the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Maurice Church, Wightman Road, New Britain. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be TODAY, 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, 12 Charter Oak Place, Hartford, CT 06106 or to the Hospital for Special Care, 2150 Corbin Ave., New Britain, CT 06053.

"TOM" was my Uncle.....(my favorite!)......he babysat for me when I was a kid....on Sexton St. He took me to the movies...and I wrote him when he was in Korea...(and he wrote back...a bad scene!)

He caddied with me at Shuttle Meadow CC and we played golf together....I wish we lived closer....people used to confuse us when they saw us....they called me Tom and him Jerry.....My father was his oldest brother.......well, now they have a 4 some up there somewhere.....Jiggs, Fan, Joey and now Tommy.......play well Guys.....
