Vincent Grimaldi Obituary

1997-2021 LONGMEADOW, MA- Vincent (Vincenzo) J. Grimaldi, age 24, of Belchertown, MA passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2021. Vincent is survived by his parents, Albert Grimaldi of Belchertown, MA and Rachel Mendez of Longmeadow, MA; his sister and best friend, Rebekkah Grimaldi of Longmeadow, MA, whom he loved very much; his little brother Christian Grimaldi of Belchertown, MA, who will always look up to him; his paternal grandparents Joseph "Joe the Tailor" and Grace "Mita" Grimaldi of Windsor, CT; his maternal grandparents, Jack and Sherry Geyer of Missoula, MT; and his many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Vincent's unyielding and dedicated work ethic was seen in all he put his mind to. His academic career began at Cushing Academy, where he served as class president and considered it a profound honor to have also been selected as the class marshall by his peers. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree from Suffolk University in Business Economics. Following his undergraduate career, he worked as a marketing and analytics associate at Swift Scientific LLC while attending Boston College in the Master's of Economics program. While studying, he worked as a teaching assistant at Suffolk and Harvard Universities. Most recently, he attended Penn State University in the pursuit of a PhD in Informatics, and working as a Graduate Research Assistant at the College of Information Science and Technology. Here, he concentrated in the understanding of how individual choices socially and culturally impact our collective development. His many academic publications and achievements will live on, influencing future scholars and advancements in the field. Beyond the scope of work and academics, he was a natural athlete who excelled at any sport. Apart from his participation in competitive sports, such as that of football and skiing, he had a natural love for the outdoors and frequently spent time biking, hiking and exploring. Loved by many, Vincent lit up any room he entered with his smile - engaging and captivating the attention of all he encountered. He will always be remembered for his outlandish, extravagant and wildly entertaining stories. His quick wit, sarcasm, and goofy sense of humor was present in every conversation, bringing laughs to all he talked to. His unique style was never excluded in the quirky designs and colors of every outfit; many of which were completed with his eccentric and vibrant bowties. Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Vincent at Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Rd, Northampton, MA 01060 on Saturday, September 18th from 12-4pm. Face coverings are required. In lieu of flowers, Vincent's family has requested that a donation in his memory be made to Active Minds (https://support.activeminds.org/Vincent) and/or Brain Trauma Foundation (https://www.braintrauma.org). Vincent was one of the most talented, lively, and interesting people to come through the economics program at Suffolk. Here is a photo of his receiving an Award for Academic Achievement in May 2019 - and very well-deserved it was too!
Like my colleagues who taught or worked with or knew Vincent, I was both shocked and saddened by his passing. It must be so much harder for those close to him, and my thoughts are with you at this trying time.

Hi,

I met Vinny at The University of Pittsburgh through the i3 Program. We were part of the 2017 Cohort. We had so many good times together. He was such a funny, positive and natural guy. I am so grateful I was able to know him for this short period of time and I am glad our paths crossed. Looking back through a few pictures, I remember the time we had lunch in Boston when he was attending Boston College. It was such short notice. I was visiting my brother in Rhode Island and Boston was only an hour away through train. I asked if he could give me a quick tour around the city and he didn't hesitate to say yes! I always appreciated his spontaneity.

I'm going to miss you Vinny, and sorry we couldn't have lunch again. Until next time brother.

With much love,

Tony Arias
