Virginia Capone

CAPONE, Virginia Virginia Capone, 85, passed away on Sunday (January 6, 2008). Born October 31, 1922 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Frances Abbott Carlson. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The most important thing in her life was her family. She was an avid gardener and enthusiastic New York Mets Fan. She is survived by two sons, Joseph Capone, Jr. and his wife, Bridjay, and their children, Joe III, Brian, Joeilynnae and R.J. all of Stamford; and Gary Capone and his wife, Susan, and their children, Bill, Kristen, Casey and Matt; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Johnny, and Haylee all of Danbury; and a daughter, Shari Capone Halvorsen and her husband, Richard, of Westbrook and their children, Lauren and Erik. A sister, Jeanne Ofiero; and two brothers, James and Jon Carlson also survive. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Joseph G. Capone, Sr.; a brother, Harry Carlson; and a sister, Doris Trimmer. Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Thursday, January 10 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. A funeral procession will then proceed to St. Mary RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Entombment will follow at St. John's Mausoleum in Darien.
