Walter H. Hart Jr.

Walter H. Hart, Jr., 79, of Farmington Woods, Avon, died Friday, (October 3, 2003) at Hartford Hospital. Born January, 10, 1924, in Waterbury, he lived most of his life in Ohio where he was in the insurance and investment business for 40 years. He was a Past President of the Toledo Chapter of Chartered Financial Consultants, Past President of the Toledo Country Club, and a former Commander of the Toledo Post #335 of the American Legion. A graduate of the Taft School and Yale University, he was a decorated combat infantry veteran of World War II, having served in the European theater of operations with the 69th Infantry Division. He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah Pickering (Skinner) Hart; four sons, Douglas S. Hart of Chicago, IL, Walter H. Hart, III and his wife Kerri of Enumclaw, WA, William S. Hart of Branson, MO, Charles S. Hart and his wife Nancy of Northboro, MA; a daughter, Sarah H. Hansen and her husband Baird of Cazenovia, NY; and ten grandchildren. Memorial Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7, 4 p.m. in the West Avon Congregational Church, 280 Country Club Rd., Avon, with the Rev. Dr. Donald H. Ketcham, officiating. Burial will be private in the Forestdale Cemetery in Holyoke, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, National Chapter, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250. Funeral arrangements are being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc.
